Today, on April 11, shots were fired in Armavir region.
At around 14:30, the Armavir regional department of the Criminal Police Main Department of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs Police received operational information that shots were fired in the main square of Echmiadzin, known to the people, in the city of Vagharshapat.
As photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reports from the spot, officers of the Armavir Criminal Department of the Criminal Police Main Department of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs Police arrived at the scene, led by the head of the department Yervand Nikoyan and the deputy head of the department Hovhannes Aristakesyan. Community police officers and patrols also arrived.
At the moment, criminal and community police officers are finding out whether there are any victims or victims as a result of the shooting.
An electric car was found at the scene, on which there are numerous traces of gunfire, and about 15 spent cartridges fired from a machine gun were already found outside.
Several citizens gathered at the scene, who refused to speak on camera, said: “We heard gunshots, we got confused, but then we saw that the Etchmiadzin neighborhood police officers harassed one of them, they managed to catch him, but he was not alone, there were 3 people, and those 2 managed to escape.”
A short while ago, the investigative group of the Vagharshapat department of the Armavir regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia arrived at the scene, led by the head of the regional department Sevak Khachatryan, head of the department Aram Ghukasyan, and senior investigator for especially important cases Saro Vardanyan. The Investigative Committee’s forensic expert is also working at the scene.
